The initial costs to start a program are the registration fees for the
leadership team to attend a "Foundations for BeFriender
Ministry" workshop, plus any associated travel or meal costs.
Workbooks for training lay ministry candidates are only $12 each.
Other
expenses are at your discretion, like costs for continuing education and
for publicizing the ministry in your church. As the program grows or when
there is turnover among leaders, new program leaders also attend a
Foundations workshop.
Comprehensive
At the training workshop, program leaders receive everything needed to
lead the program and train BeFrienders, including resources valued at
$112.50. Electronic forms and tools allow you to customize training and
publicity materials.
The
three program leader functions of trainer, facilitator, and administrator
are clearly defined to effectively manage the ministry.

Hours are manageable for staff and volunteers with busy schedules. The
training workshop for program leaders is 30 hours over four days. The
training time for volunteers in your church is about 20 hours. With this
efficient training, BeFrienders are well-equipped to provide pastoral
care.
Flexible
BeFriender Ministry works for churches of any size. A leadership team of
2-5 people can carry out the three program leader functions and divide
responsibilities according to each person's gifts and abilities.
Program leaders
from your church train the lay volunteers to be BeFrienders when it's most
