Barb Schwery

Barbara Schwery is Executive Co-Director and Manager of Programs for BeFriender Ministry. Barb was the lead trainer and consultant with the BeFriender Ministry National Office from 1995 to 2006 when it was a center of the University of St. Thomas.  She is a certified BeFriender Ministry workshop leader.

She holds a master of ministry from Seattle University and a bachelor's degree in social work from the College of St. Catherine, Saint Paul, MN.

Barb has been involved in pastoral ministry since 1981 and has one unit of clinical pastoral education.  As a church-affiliated pastoral minister, she initiated, developed, and maintained BeFriender Ministry programs.  She provided direct pastoral care as well as training and ongoing supervision for a variety of volunteers, including BeFriender ministers.

She has served on the BeFriender Ministry advisory committee and the Hopkins Health Care Center advisory board.  Barb also has been a member of the Association of Pastoral Ministers since 1981, serving on the executive board and committees, including the Archdiocese of Saint Paul-Minneapolis Coalition of Ministries.  She is a member of the National Association for Lay Ministry.

 

Joanne Hansen

Joanne Hansen is Executive Co-Director and Manager of Operations for BeFriender Ministry.  She has been on the staff since June 1999.

Joanne was with the human resources department of Minneapolis-based First Bank System (now US Bank) for 16 years, including six years as an organization effectiveness consultant.  In 1996, she joined the Saint Paul management consulting firm The Clarity Group as a senior associate.  She is a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator facilitator and a certified trainer of Galloway-Halff quality management courses and of Development Dimensions International courses.  She has also developed and delivered several management, customer service, and communications training courses.  In 1999, she co-authored an article on workforce retention, which appeared in Venture magazine and in the journal of the International Customer Service Association (ICSA).

Joanne is a graduate of Dana College in Blair, NE, where she majored in music and speech/theatre. 

  

Caroline Budreau
Event Coordinator

Caroline Budreau came on staff in September 2004 as a University of St. Thomas (UST) student worker in the role of Customer Service Assistant. On July 1, 2006, she became the Event Coordinator. She is a junior at UST, majoring in Public Relations. Caroline’s office hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday.
